Screening starts at 7:30 pm
On Chesil Beach
This is a tender film, well acted, and with a shrewd eye for how naive you can be in your early 20s, how impatient, how pompous, how tragicomically un-self-aware. In the early 1960s Britain was a nation ill at ease, not least sexually, nor across class boundaries, and the film captures the feel of this with some powerful performances. Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle star in this dramatisation of Ian McEwans best selling novel.
